Ecology Education on the Coast of Maine Since 1998, Ferry Beach Ecology School (FBES) has brought innovative ecology education programs to thousands of children and adults throughout New England. In everything they do — week-long programs on a coastal campus, outreach and day programs at schools, publishing curriculums and field guides — FBES accentuates the magic, mystery and wonder of nature so that students can better understand and care for the environment.
The afternoon lesson was on the beach and dunes. Despite the rain, they had a scavenger hunt, practiced how to be a wave,created a museum, and used field guides to research items they found on this ecosystem. It was a great beach day!
